| | | Swing arm movement
Hey
I have noticed for quite some time my swing arm is moving at the frame. and its causing my bike to jump all over the place when i ride on rough terrain. The bike is a 125cc orion agb21
So i took out the swing arm needle bearings there where 2 in each of the arms of the swing arm this is where my questions came about:
1. one of the arms had a washer between the two bearings the other had nothing. Should it be there and why would it be missing one?
2. The bolt when put through the whole in the frame has quite a lot of slack in it a couple of mm could this be causing the issue, or is this normal?
3. The bearings to the spacers i guess you call them only has a slight amount of movement if anything so i am starting to think its not the bearings but there is a little movement.
Its the first time i have had a swing arm off and i am unsure of what is normal and what is not. I just really need to get rid of this movement in the swing arm cause i believe its what could be causing my issues when riding.
thanks

they are called bushes and should be tight in the swing arm.. sounds like you need new bushes in your swing arm...

but can anyone make any suggestions about the difference in sizes between the swingarm bolt and the whole in the frame ? there is quite a bit of movement ?
and what about the washer that i was seeing in there should there be one on either side?

This is the complete set up that i took out, as you can see there is a washer in between the two bearings on he left hand side but i dont know if it should be there and if there should be one on the other side. 2012-02-22 15.22.32.jpg
This shows how the bearing fits over the spacer i dont know what you call it, which has a bit of movement in it. 2012-02-22 15.22.58.jpg
Thats just a picture of the bearing itself 2012-02-22 15.23.18.jpg
that's the swing arm bolt going through the frame which has quite alot of movement in it i dont know if that's normal and goes away once tightened up or ??? 2012-02-22 15.23.38.jpg
bearings positioned on the swing arm 2012-02-22 15.23.57.jpg

If the pivot bolt is sloppy in the frame it'll be hard to eliminate swingarm play . Maybe if you get a new bolt and tighten the nut really tight it might minimize play but if it's the frame hole that's worn you won't get rid of the play altogether unless you get the frame bored and re-bushed to suit a new swingarm bolt ...
Maybe you could try a backyard re-bush job using tin can wrapped around the bolt where it goes thru the frame .
