Question Rev/Idle Problem

Hey guys,

My revs on my bike are messed up and i wouldnt have a clue why.

Ill kick it over and give it a rev (at idle) and the revs will stay up high and then gradually come back down.

What causes this to happen?

Any help will be much appreciated, Thanks.

welcome to miniriders,

here is a few things to start looking at,
kinked throttle cable?
dirty carby slide?
throttle tube (the hand grips slide over this) inside the throttle housing is dirty/gunked up?
throttle tube fouling on the bar end?
grip fouling on the throttle housing?

there is lots of good information here if you use the search bar etc,

cheers, craig

sticky throttle cable most likely , either its been crashed recently and kinked the cable or its too tight or its just dry inside and need to be lubed up.

Thanks for the quick reply guys.

I think you guys have hit the nail on the head. I picked up the bike last week and when i first got it the throttle would get stuck no matter how much throttle you give it and would not flick back. I opend it up and gave it a good spray with WD40 and it loosend it up and now flicks back with no problems.

This bike was sitting for 3 years before i got it so i cleaned the carby, fresh fuel, fresh oul, new plug. Valves were loud as hell so i fixed all that up.

I have checked the throttle and cable but all seems fine. Ill double check just incase though.

Thanks Again fellez
