If fuel is coming out the overflow your float needle is sticking open allowing the carby to flood. Sometimes a quick fix is to turn off the fuel at the tank and run the engine until it starts to die and then open the valve at the tank. This can flush out small debris. If that doesn't work...

I did a CT90. DrATV has the adapters for the wiring harness. I chose to upgrade to 12v so I could run a decent headlight and LED tail light. Since I'm in California, the CT90 does not require smog controls, the CT110 does.

Yes, remove the timing cover, I used an external 12v battery to power the light, put the clamp on the plug wire and run it. As you run the motor you will (or should) see the static timing marks aligned at idle and advance as the RPM's go higher. Mine is a Lifan 140 with the stock inner rotor...

Ok got a 26mm intake manifold and port matched it to the head and heat isolator on the carb. Put it all together with a new Mikuni carb and the results are.... the exact same top speed. So that seems to eliminate the intake as the bottle neck. The new carb seems jetted just about right. So...

Wow that's a big difference in lift! Clunk, you might want to put come clay on top of the piston and roll it gently through all 4 strokes. The thickness of the clay will show you your actual clearance. I replaced the stock one with a thinner copper head gasket to my 140 and tested clearance this...

I bought one of those blue performance CDI boxes with the led light. Got a lot more kick-back when starting. Checked the timing with a light and found the timing ran full advance even at idle. Stock CDI works and advances fine. Blue box is on the shelf.

I ordered a manifold with a Mikuni VM22 (26mm) carburator attached for $49 on ebay.

Ok just checked, 26.11mm opening in head and 22.23 opening in manifold. What did you use for a replacement manifold?
