I only ever use loctite on 2 bolts that go to the engine. The 2 bolts in the cam retainer plate. The threads in the engine will strip out eventually if you use loctite on them.

Craig has your problem all sorted in the above answer's for sure. Make sure you dont leave it too long because eventually there will be a build up of fuel and the air filter will catch fir then you will be up for a new filter.

Put the screw driver in there thats equal to width of the tooth on the gear. Put in flat on the surface of the tooth. The pressure on it will be less than the pressure it goes through when riding
