Make a rear shock protector such as Japanease bikes (Plastic style) or the pitster pro style (Rubber style). Attach it up the top and then drill two holes in the swinger and use self tapper screws, it works really well. Have a look at the pitster style then look on your bike for any possible...

The main cause of this is having space around where the cable meets the throttle cap. Air and dirt both get sucked into this gap, and enters the fuel mixture and eventually ending up either in your engine, sitting in the bottom of your carb or just clogging up your carby slide.
