Is it normal for the rear brake to be be able to push down an inch or two before the brakes start to activate?

I find it really hard to modulate my braking because it feels like i'm either doing nothing or locking up the back wheel

nah, sounds like it needs bleeding
but the rear brake can be a bit tricky sometimes

Hmm yeah, Well it feels like it had heaps of pressure so i didn't think it had air in the lines. I'll get some more brake fluid and give it another bleed.

And i'm still having trouble with the clutch slightly grabbing. Clutch in fully, in gear the back wheel will spin... And the clutch is on really really tightly....

I've got a new lever and cable on the way should be here in a week or so but it's got me stumped

Try bleeding it from the slave banjo bolt rather than the bleed nipple, if your still confindent that there's no air in the line just extend your master cylinder adjustment. :)
