Hey all. Long time listener, first time caller. I picked up '99 DS80 to fix up for my boy and was told it had no spark. Well I'm fairly new to these things so I figured snag a secondary pickup coil (fairly inexpensive) and start there. Replaced that and no bueno. So I went the google machine and found this site. I started poking at the primary coil and testing the resistance. I set my multimeter to the 200 setting and put the red lead on the black/red wire and the black lead on the black/white wire. I get 166.
I would assume I am doing this correct. But from that are these within specification? I did test the other larger coil on the stator as that I believe runs the lights and honestly I couldn't give a crap if it worked or not, it did however give me no resistance which was odd.
Any insight would be awesome as you'd make an 8 year old little dude very happy to get this thing running.
