Ok. so what do you do when you have some spare time, a deceased Z50j an as new ducar 125, numerous cans of spray paint, and an urge to be out riding again!??

You start Overhauling!

i'll try and keep my words to a minimum and the pictures will hopefully do the explination of whatis going on. So let the documentation of Project Z begin!

Start with:
Z50lhs.jpg

Remove all acessories, engine, forks, swinger, tank and seat.

we then take some wet and dry sand paper, and get dirty..
frameonly.jpg

Removing the battery bracket and ignition switch bracket leaves the frame pretty bare..

Then its just a matter of applying a coat or two of a primer/high fill putty.

lightly sanding with a high grain wet and dry upon drying and deciding on a frame colour....

and test fitting the heart to the body...

looks preeety

good little project u got there foolsp33d.
my mates got a z50 in he's shed that i want to fix up and use, but he wont let me have it. instead it just sits there collecting dust.

^^ Nasty.. need to give him a few to many brews and a cash incentive! hey least then YOU(or me) will put it to good use and not let it die a dusty death!
swinger in undercoat and then painted...

this is how the original motor looks.. after sitting unused and uncleaned for nearly 5 years... poor little honda.. sad that it has NO compression.. in gear i can turn it over via the front sprocket.
It may get a 88cc kit through it when time(and $$) permits..

Its a completely different bike with a china engine, with the honda engine its the best.

^^ dont have the funds atm to rebuild the honda engine, and figure I might as well use what i have. hence the Ducar going in, then when time and funds allow, the original engine can go back in with a big bore kit. as custom explained to me, there is no need for ANY mods on the frame to make the ducar fit the Honda frame so it was a simple case of unbolt, rebolt. just making it look all pretty in the process and fixing the broken bits that will take the majority of time.

Good to see another Z comin together, Mines just coming apart again for a refit lol

looking good so far my engine looks like yours lol im gonna get the cases repainted and put an 88kit in mine.
