Hi,
Ive come to the conclusion the gearing on my YX160 Mid Size is annoying me, so I want to know what some of you guys run with...

I currently have a 16t Front and a 41t rear
Im finding second is just too high, and 3rd gear is just too low for the tracks I am riding..

Cant decide if I should lenghten the gears... so I get more out of second
Or if I should shorten the gears to I can ride more in 3rd...

Leaning towards the second option, as im guessing it would have more torque and better power delivery out of turns? I dont think Ive ever been 4th pinned on a MX track, so Im not worried too much about losing top end...

Come down a tooth or 2 in the front and see what you think of that.
1 tooth on the front is = to 3 on the back. It makes a big difference.

Well my bikes arn't 12" class,

But i run and happy with following gearing on bikes have

Stocka, 13 -39

limited , 14 -37

10" , 16 - 38 . tb117 motor with stock crf50 gearbox

That any help Justin ?

ha ha... i dunno! Not sure if 10" bikes are a good comparison... thanks anyway.. was thinking it would be a good thread for anyone wanting to know what others are running for gearing anyway...

I run a 17t front and 39 tooth rear(14 and 12 rims) and has a top speed of 90kmh (155z), pops up in 3rd, i ride some hills and trails and rocky terrain, helps me pop the front wheel over the ruts in 2nd and 3rd
