I was riden my dhz125 and the chain came off, it cracked the magneto case and broke the magneto so i was thinking about putting a Rotor kit on it i've heard the inner ones will blow ya bike up pretty quick and i've heard the Out Rotor kits are a bit better. I dont know the difference between them so i'm asking the tech masters??
Also i dont know weather its going to fit?
Its a Lifan 125cc...

I'll take a stab, inner rotor kit bad, makes bike harder to start and can cause dramas by unbalancing the motor with the lightened Slinger etc. Outer rotors are good because no balance issues and you have better timing adjustments. Am I close?? Lol

haha sounds right Anyone know if its going to fit a Lifan 125
 
Gah, that 'unbalances the crank' myth still persists?! Look at it this way, one one side of the crank all you have is a flywheel to resist the crank's temper tantrums. Lets pretend it's a new IRK setup that just needs the woodruff key and nothing else to work, the ultimate minimalist setup. On the other side you may or may not have a sling, etc.

"Oh Noes!" goes the crowd, "That's unbalanced, the sling is MUCH heavier and will cause havoc if you try to ride it like that. Now be sensible and put a proper flywheel on this instant, and a sweater because your mom feels a chill."

That's where most people stop looking at the equation. But what else is hooked to that overburdened side of the crank? Why, it's a primary gear, clutch, transmission, and ultimately the rear wheel! You're not going to fit a flywheel big enough to match the forces actually moving Lardo the Overweight Pitbiker puts on the transmission side as he has delusions of grandeur brapping around the track. It's an impossible goal to try and balance the forces out, you'd need a giant variable sized flywheel that would absolutely destroy the readability of the machine.

As to an IRK vs an ORK, how extreme of an effect do you want? With a lighter flywheel the motor spins up and down much quicker. You loose torque on bottom but gain HP on top due to less energy being wasted spinning up mass that is no longer there. Because of the reduced flywheel effect the bike will be easier to stall, and easier to bump start at the same time.

Crank whip is reduced with the ligher weight hanging off the end as well. I have a nasty habit of snapping cranks pavement racing so I run an IRK with no sling on the other side as a means of prolonging engine life.

An ORK offers similar benefits over a normal flywheel, just not as pronounced.

I have heard of more complaints with the chinese IRKs crapping out than the Daytona and Lifan ORKs, my Kitaco IRK has never failed me.

Ive Received the rotor kit and put it on and got it running but it doesnt run right it keeps back firing out of the carby, its like the timing is out or something??... Anyone help me out???
 
Hey yea i believe from what ive heard about carby blow back is timing.

Here is a thread i created a few days back, this might give you some answers hopefully.

Off track here a little and i read you purchased the ORK, i put an IRK on my 125 lifan a few years back and the clutch being a lighter thinner material than a 140, 150 clutch disintergrated and smashed the side casing spewing oil all over the exhaust, either it was a dodgy clutch(was working fine until IRK installed) but i believe the start in neutral only clutches cant handle the over revving with an IRK, but im sure heaps of people have done this, without this happening.
 
yeah i think i mighten of put it on in the rite spot or something... Anyone installed one before and can help me out??? i think the wiring is all sweet haha, ill take a photo tomorrow morning for you'se and il show yu how ive got it set up.. cheers guys

It starts and will idol but as soon as i touch the throttle it back fire's out of the carby and dies. dont know what ive done wrong???
 
That looks very advanced (timing wise) to me, try lineing up the bolts in the centre and see what happens, reckon it might just fix it.

Cheers for the help, dont really know what bolts your talking about?? do yu know how to adjust the timing on it?? haha never had to deal with it before??
 
The bolts that hold the stator plate in place. Losen them then you'l be able to twist the plate clockwise and anti-clockwise, which in turn changes your timing. Tighten it back somewhere in the middle, and hopefully it should get you sorted ;)

Thanks man i figured out i had it on the wrong way but i think thats all good now haha, Ive been playing around with the timing like you said but i cant seem to get it right, Ive got it pretty close to good but wen i go full throttle quickly it will back fire and actually shoot a couple of big flames out the exhaust lol and it will stall. but if i ease it on its pretty normal. Should i just keep on playing around with the timing trying to get it spot on? or is there a way i can actually get it spot on??
 
Check your valve clearences. Then check your jetting, but i think valves would be next on the agenda.
Its pretty much a brand new motor, just so you know it was running fine before i put the ORK on it, Would putting the ORK onit mean that i have to do my valve clearance's?? i dont have feeler gauges :(
 
Gotta remember it's abrand new "CHINA" motor.... check your valves, easy enough job and I reckon it'll get you sorted. Mine were deffinately out when i got it.
