today I scored a cheap engine off a friend, he said that it runs but im not sure.

looking over it today I noticed there was a few missing bolts and that when engine was leaning on the cylinder head there was oil leaking out of exhaust hole.

anyone know if oil leaking from there means something's wrong? or is this normal??

on a side note the compression feels pretty good.
heres a few pics of the engine, and spots where bolts are missing.

Are you sure it's leaking oil out the exhaust port ?
I would think it might be from the bottom rocker cover gasket,
or the 4 head stud nut's aren't tight and it's seeping out between the head and cylinder ?

If it is coming out the exhaust port then it could be the valve stem seal's are gone.
You would see oil down the valve stem too
Or the ring's are shot and it's making it's way past them, into the cylinder, then running out through an open exhaust valve

Does it have compression ?

yeah its got pretty good compression, ill have a better look tomorrow, maybe it is coming from somewhere else.

if its got comp put it in & get it running how bad can it be ,worst case its going to blow a bit of smoke & u will need to keep an eye onthe oil top ups.
