I purchased this the other day.
Was pretty dirty when I got it, so I spent a few good hours scrubbing it.

Then after I gave it a clean:

Weak points:

· Missing one spoke from the rear wheel.
· Chain is stretched to buggery.
· Missing a silencer/muffler.

Good points:

· Starts first kick with no choke.
· Rims came up spotless.
· Only paid $350.

Opinions?
or
Any suggested modifications?

I'm probably going to buy an FMF Fatty Pipe, FMF PowerCore 2 Silencer and Pro Taper Bars for it.

i have a friend that has a really old one and someone he knows raced it
but dunno what they did to it sorry besides making a muffler out of a tin or something lol

stronger bars like tags or pro tapers maybe
i think i've seen race exhaust for these bikes before like fmf or something.

Cody, fit a '77/'78 RM80B or C model cylinder, exhaust and carb and it'll go like a rocket. Not sure if the taper on the crank of the JR is the same but the internal rotor ignition, cdi and coil from an 'aircooled' RM80 will make it super snappy (peaky as all hell) The engines in the JR and the DS80's are based on the '77 RM80B 5 speed (the '78 RM80C was 6 speed but the top end pipe and carb will interchange) Just out of interest, a complete RM80 engine from '77-'81 will slot straight in. Looks a nice looking little bike btw. Cheers

Down-side to the hop-uppage is, that you'll take the pleasant little foo-foo bike and make it peaky, harder to tune, and way to fast for it's modest suspension.

If an RM80 is sought, sell the JR and get an old RM, IMSLTHO...
