Oil change

Just wondering what oil everyone uses for their little dhz pit bikes preferably the 160s and to suit the Aussie climate also when changing the oil filter some people take old one out wipe the old oil out of there and replace it some wipe old out and put a bit of fresh oil in there with the filter before starting the bike is there a real big difference in doing it either of those ways?

castrol 10w-40 power1 motorcycle oil, just replace filter run bike for a bit then top up if needed.
