has anyone carried out a comparison on the best oil cooler at a reasonable price. Preferably with banjo bolt set up.

Not that i've seen.
I have a mechanical temperature gauge coming for mine ex ebay china
I will be fitting a digital one later on too

The Pitsterpro LXR190 run twin coolers, about the same size as the Braaap 190 cooler
You can see the bottoms of them here.

Brendo has pics in his LXR190 thread too i'm sure

either side would be a lot more effective than tandem. didn't you fit a larger cooler on a your Braaap? . is it possible to fit a car auto tranny cooler to suit . ? lve looked at a few jap bike coolers but arnt that bigger

Yeah, mine has a small car trans cooler on it
It measures 280mm wide, the core is 70mm tall, and is 40mm thick, total height including banjo's is 140mm
It sits just inside the Braaap tank shrouds by 10mm each side
I have now mounted it with the banjo's on top too, it acts as a reservoir that way
It has 1/2"Npt screw in fittings that i cut the barbs off and drilled and tapped them to suit the 10mm x 1mm banjo fittings.

The original Braaap cooler is 160mm wide, 60mm tall and 16mm thick, total height is 80mm including banjos

when it was on the Atomik

Hows it's mounted now

I have had to upgrade the oil lines on my 190 as the stock ones melted on me well riding. Went to Enzed and got some nice stainless banjos and some braided oil lines. Never had a problem since.

The Pitsterpro LXR oil cooler lines are just rubber aren't they, and push onto barbs?
I used some spare Lifan Braided lines i had laying around
I want to upgrade them later though, use some nice Aeroflow AN fittings and braided or Teflon lines

That's a decent cooler craig. l have an atomic 240mm x 70mm . thou it uses clamps not banjo. lm not keen .
.
what size is on yours snaptrax ??

lve looked on Honda 50s site . look decent thou $230 dollares

A mate has a workshop and is a euro car specialist. May suft around his workshop for one.

I have bought a couple of Anodised engine drain plugs too,
I will remove the magnet then drill and tap it to suit a sender unit for the electric/digital gauge
Not sure whether i'll mount it under the engine in the drain plug , or off to the left in the side filter plug.

Il have a look later on mate. I have some spare line here so il measure it for ya.
They are braided with a plastic coating i believe Craig

Yeah that's what l bought . haven't received as yet. A bit of a gamble if it works well or not.
Any how it was only a few $$$.

How big is to big with a cooler. Will oil pressure be a problem. And the correct amount of oil capacity to add.??

I'm running only one of the twin coolers from DHZ on the monkey and I've got a temp washer on one of the banjos hooked up to the trail-tech. It cools good enough cruizing, around 75-80*, doesn't like three red lights in a row on a 40* day though!!!

oh yeah what model of trail -teck and is it a numeric reading with sensor on the banjo.
How accurate do you think it is ..?

Trail-Tech Vapor, yeah I reckon it's pretty accurate, I'm running a 10mm banjo washer under the hot side of the cooler!!

Looking good,
Did you measure how much oil your cooler holds ?

And is that something sticking out i can spy hiding behind the lower exhaust shield ?

Nah l haven,t measured. l m still waiting on the left hand fuel line. Should come in next week. Also haven't bought some decent Teflon tape ,(gas high pressure stuff)

What do you think if l cut down the brass fittings. Will l screw up the thread? ..

They will stick out a bit . As you know the cooler F/M thread is tapered .

Yeah, can't really cut them down due to the taper, they won't have too many threads holding them in, or they'll stretch the weld in nuts on the cooler.
You can get straight 1/2" NPT adapters though
I ordered a pair of these - AN 6 AN6 AN 06 TO 1 2" NPT Straight Adapter Fittings | eBay
which i'll cut the AN ends off then drill and tap them to 10mm, if they are too long i can cut them down later.

Bunnings has the Gas thread tape

I was just out in the shed and noticed the temp gauge on my little bike is sitting at 38° C, it hasn't been started for over a week, 40° C outside atm here.

the engineer didn't recommend it either . The thing is l went to a few different shops and nothing seamed to work , only a 1/2 sae thread from enzed . but that was a solid piece of galv steel . and $16 each
Yeah l guess l was a little keen to get on with it . Maybe in future thats the way l will go .
