I just bought this bike off ebay. I already knew it wasn't a good quality bike before I bought it. I knew it was chinese and that it wouldn't last.
Its my first bike and I don't really know if I will stick with trail bike riding long term (I got sick of my wave runner within about 6 months). So I figured by something cheap, if you like it then upgrade to something decent. I know its going to break before long.
Turns out I love it so im now saving for a decent Jap bike. But I thought I would do a review on my TDR.
Price: $478 plus $65 delivery from ebay
Engine: 125cc Ducar 4 stroke
Transmission: Universal Non-Rotary, 4 Down (N1234)
I don't know much at all about bikes and don't have much to compare it too, but overall the bike is fun to ride and so far the only problems I've had are a leaking fuel line, which was easy to fix.
It gets up to about 80km/hour in 4th gear, it would probably do 90km/hour if I flogged it. Im about 75kg.
Its definately not of high build quality, and I can tell that if I trash it, it will break. The welds on the frame don't look very good quality, so I won't be jumping it at all. But for riding trails and just mucking around down the paddock, so far it has held up fine.
But overall for $500 odd bucks I've had the most fun I've ever had over the last few weeks. Its probably the best $500 bucks I've spent, because if I didn't buy this I probably would have never wanted to put the hard yards in to save and get a good quality bike. Now im saving, im going to keep riding the TDR until it breaks, and then probably give it to my young cousin to fix up and muck around on.
So I guess if you are looking for a good quality long term bike, this bike is not for you. If you just want something very cheap to have fun on, to see if trail bike riding is for you, then I recommend it. But remember, its going to break before too long, so don't get pissed off when you have to fix it.
EDIT: Sorry, I just realised that my post is not in the correct format. Im new to the forum, I should have read the rules first.
