Just got a PitPro 140cc Bigfoot from a friend and he had only fired it up once when he bought it and it has never been ridden, basically its brand new. Got it fired up today and its idling ok but as soon as i open the throttle the engine dies. Im a bit of a noob when it comes to these bikes but i do have a bit of mechanical knowledge, in any case does anyone know what could be causing the engine to die from idle when i open the throttle? I dont have a manual to look at and the pitpro website didnt really help me either. Thanks in advance for any help.

Is the choke on?
If not then I would suggets the carby jet are possibly blocked... Quite possible since the small plastic shavings from the fuel tank can get stuck

you'll need to take the carby off and take it apart... Which isn't as daunting as it sounds

welcome to Miniriders,

make sure you drop by and say g'day in our Introduce Yourself thread too.

it sounds like the Pilot Jet is blocked, or something is stuck in the Pilot Circuit.

take the carby off, pull the fuel bowl off and take the long thin jet out
it looks like the one on the left in this pic
see the holes through the top part, make sure they are all open/unblocked, and also the hole though the centre of the jet

and check out stoozo's Pit Pro big wheels too while you are at it

Cheers thanks for the info, looks like I will be pulling the car by off to give it a bit of a clean up, whilst I'm at it I assume the stock spark plug is in the motor at the moment is it worth changing that out as well and if so what is a recommended spark plug?

yeah get a Genuine NGK C7HSA for it, about $4 from most Motorbike shops

What size unifilter is required for the pitpro 140cc bigfoot

Measure the the outsid diameter of the carby and ya will know what size to get. I would say if the bikes been sitting awhile the pilot jet may be blocked. When fuel sits in a carby too long it breakers down and will coat the bowl of ya carby in this brown crap wich is a pain to get out and little flakes come off and block ya jets. After every ride I empty my carby bowl and run the carby completely dry with choke on and kick it over a few times once bike has died.
