I am looking at buying my 11 year old son his first bike. Cant afford a japanese bike- even second hand are above price range. Can anyone recommend (or not recommend) reputable brands?
Not interested in serious motocross- just riding on our property. Have checked out DHZ, Atomik, Assassin, Thumpstar. Cant see much difference.

all thoughts and experience appreciated.

Welcome to Miniriders,
Drop in and say hello in our Introduce Yourself thread while you're here
http://www.miniriders.com/general-chat/20824-introduce-yourself.html

How tall is your son ?
And can he ride a Pit Bike ?

i was thinking about what to recommend,
if he hasn't ridden before maybe one of these E-Start 110's, it's a 110cc semi auto, seat height 685mm.
PitsterPRO MX 110 SS ? PitsterPRO ? Buy Online Australia at DHZ

Or if he has ridden a bike, then maybe the D Pro 125, seat height 780mm, full manual

The other bike i suggest is an Atomik Nitrous, 125cc, full manual, seat height 750mm
Nitrous 125cc Pit Bikes - For Sale | Buy Cheap Online @ Atomik Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adeliade

Most of the bikes have come a long way from what they were when they came out in Australia, better quality etc

Have a look through this thread too, there's a few helpful tips etc

Cheers, Craig

Thanks Craig. He is a tall 11 yo and my hubby is 6 ft 5 so I'm expecting him to keep growing quickly. I dont want one that he'll outgrow too fast or one that will fall apart within 6 months.

I like to DHZ Dpro 125. I'll check out the pitsterpro.
Thx
