Can someone help me out with wat the valve clearance should be on a2000 yz426f

Just Googled it and found a thread on Thumpertalk for valve clearances on a 2000 model.
Sound's like a fun job !
Intake .15mm to .20mm
Exhaust .25mm to .30mm
Do you have buy some thinner shim's or do you already have them ?

Theres some manuals out on the web.. i suggest acquiring one. They are quite handy even in digital form..

Wat do I need todo shims as well can't u just adjust the valves like normal

Nah they aren't adjustable like the Pitbike engine's they use different thickness shim's between the rocker and valve to adjust them.
Here's an exploded view of your head, part #13 is the shim that adjust's the clearance (usually need thinner shim's)
But you may be able to use one out of another valve if it's the right thickness

Either you buy a kit like this-

Or try and buy the correct thickness one's you need individually, Yamaha doesn't sell them anymore, but someone may have some old stock

just go to your local jap motorbike shop. they will only charge you an hours labour and they will dig into there shim kit. Just loosen up any radiators or rad covers for them . Thats when you usually start charging a few hundred dollars. Clean engines and easy access is what the shop wants.
