Which Chinese full sized trail bike?

Hi all, I realise this isn't really a mini question, but I think it's pretty relevant to a lot of people here. I'm not after a heap of people saying how crap or junk Chinese bikes are. I'm after peoples actual experiences with cheap Chinese trail bikes. One of the prime contenders is...

    First good budget bike

I believe, is the Atomik 125cc RS a copy of the Pitpro 125RR? I think the RS has the lifan engine so I'd say that's a good thing

    First good budget bike

My opinion is if you spend 500 bucks on a bike, it will last you a few rides before something serious breaks and it'll be off the road so to speak. If you spend 750 or so, you'll get something that will last a lot longer and nothing major should break. Having said that, you'll still need to...

kitaco clone IR kit REV LIMIT?

Awesome. thanks for the info. Anyone know what the pickup clearance should be? I just set it so I can barely see daylight between the pickup and the rotor. Seems to work quite well, so that's where I've left it.

    Modding Usd Forks

I originally thought this too, and you're right, engine oil changes viscosity to temperature, but do you forks ever get that hot? I was recommended this by a race team who use this method.

    Modding Usd Forks

about 150ml per fork leg. Go for around 15-20weight oil. If they are old, I'd pull them apart and completely clean them up before putting back to gether and changing the oil. If new, just hcange the oil. make sure you work the rod attached to the dampening valve/shims to drain all the oil...

kitaco clone IR kit REV LIMIT?

I was going to suggest valve float/bounce etc. but sounds like you know what that is and what that sounds like. How worked is your engine? I mean, these CDI's go to 15,000rpm and the only engine I know going anywhere near that is a worked 110cc with 13hp @13,000rpm. I KNOW he is revving it...

    RACING CDI and turbo filters

Explain Meko? Why don't they work? won't plug in/different plug? Just not designed for it?

kitaco clone IR kit REV LIMIT?

Yeah, I'd work on the timing advance/retard to get it right. Unless you have a seriously worked engine, as in probably the most worked engine in Australia, you won't ever hit the rev limiter. On a stock bike, it just won't ever get that high.

    MotoGP spoiler inside!

Yep, seen Hawk Speed. It's been on foxtel, discovery or something in the past as a series. Really interesting. Basically a rich lord sponsors a race team to race in the BSB. ahh, to have money! I think Stoner is riding incredible lately. Ducati put it just right, he's riding like a genius...

    Forks too soft bttoming out.

Most pit bikes come with springs setup for small people, ie children or teenagers. Only the expensive 'race' type pitbikes (ie motoverts etc.) come with suspension designed for adults. Therefore, the suspension is too soft for larger people. You need stiffer springs to suit this weight...

Flat Slide carby 28mm or 30mm

I actually like the idea of a clear float bowl. Can see if fuel is in there etc.etc. But you're right, I worry about how heat resistant it is! As a side point, an engine builder I know is looking at take a CBR250 carb and putting it on a 110. Down draft carb etc. No idea how well it will...

Flat Slide carby 28mm or 30mm

I think it'll go pretty well on a 250. I think the Pitpro 250's have the Mikuni 30mm. I don't have any experience, but I would think it would be a good setup. It's not that he was lying,. It WILL fit on a 138.. even a 125, it's just not really suited. I don't think I know of any carb that...

    Nylon motard tyres

I think they look like a good cheap way to get onto the Motard track. they won't be the best, but you could always swap on some other tires. the 1.60" on the front is pretty narrow though. I think it's a good place to start.

Flat Slide carby 28mm or 30mm

Totally agree with what Cactus Jack says. the reason they sell bigger carbs, is because they can! It's a business. What are kids going to buy? bigger HAS to be better! Well, no, not really. but people who don't know any better will buy them because they are bigger and sound better. A...

    FULL SIZE 250 Pitpro!

I think you could get a fair bit more out of pretty much any air cooled single. 200 or 250. Probably another 25% reasonably easily. They are all pretty lazy engines really.

    FULL SIZE 250 Pitpro!

Of all the PRC based 250cc full size bikes, this does look the best. The only one I've seen which looks good is a 300cc 4 valve bike, but that was 146kgs dry which is VERY heavy for a dirt bike and it's more a dual sport than a dirt bike. 20hp+ on that and I think you'd have a really good...

Flat Slide carby 28mm or 30mm

Agreed, you'd be better off sticking to the 25/26mm mikuni. You'd need some serious top end porting and work to make a 30mm carb really work. You can however get a flat slide 24 and 26mm Keihin which I would imagine would be better.

    FULL SIZE 250 Pitpro!

Nah, just got two of them myself. 125 and 110 and been really happy with them. I could be all wrong and this bike could be a piece of junk. What'a Honda XR250 worth these days new? Or a Yamaha TTR250? I think they are some of the closest Jap bikes in this class. I was just surprised to...

    FULL SIZE 250 Pitpro!

Looks, well that's a personal thing. To each his own, you don't like it? I respect that. As for Jap bikes, definitely better. I've had nearly 20 bikes in my time riding (4 years) and Jap bikes are by far the best. BUT, this bike is 1500 bucks! Show me a 1500 jap bike? A CR85 sounds...
