hey guys, at skool me n a few mates are making a go kart for a project and we've hit a lil bump during the project..
what engine should we use that has a clutch???
our kart is sorta based on this lil kart here Build your own go kart
anybody know of a motor that we can custom fit into our kart??
all info would be great

mike.

Saw a guy with a Lifan 125 straped into his kart last Saturday. He had a custom exhaust, fuel pump, and a custom hand-operated gear lever. Think his clutch was rigged up to the pedals too. Only had a brief look but it certainly worked.

that thing looks SIKK!

a lifan 140 would go awsome in one of those little carts and fun as

GPX 160 with the following:

Port & Polish
R head

you should be happy after that

lol geezz it was sorta a on the budget sorta thing but yeah..
thanks for the info guys (Y)
i think the gpx160 is abit over kill for a lil home made go kart haha
but yeah. thanks again for all the replys

the gpx wouldn't be overkill, on bitumen it would still be kinda slow.

put in a yamaha j-100 motor. 100cc two stroke. no gears. u can add a centrifugal clutch which then allows u to have electric start. these engines go hard man. used on the actual go karts. i had one for a few years. rode it around my driveway. and in side streets. bro did a donut in it and its a push start and no centrifugal clutch.

yeah go with a 2 stroke like a cr80 or kx100. Foot clutch and gears on the wheel then it will go hard as
