Thoughts on this shock

these shocks arent too bad man, 280mm in length (eye to eye) with 10mm eye holes and bump and rebound adjustments. these are refered to as fastace's high end line. have a spring rated at 1000lbs so there is no need to adjust the preload due to bottoming out (cause you wont come close to bottoming out) these babies are a solid shock.

i have only heard one complaint about them and that was the master shaft unscrewing from the base and losing all compression and oil, not too bad though as these shocks are completly rebuildable, just a bit of a pain in the ass if you go over a double and crash out. i would look around a little more man, you will find plenty of places that sell the same shocka in australia.

hope all goes well for it man, its a nice shock and will fit most rides perfectly.

Cheers, Tony.

Are the 1000lb shocks very hard? because the new bike i have bought has it on it and i am only 57kgs so will it be too hard for my weight? i dont want a really hard shock

yes 1000lbs is a hard shock, but id depends on the riding your doing with regards to it being too hard. their designed to be jumped and safely flatland without causing huge ammounts of dmg to any of your important components (frames, swingarms etc...) you could try releasing the preload nut till its just nipped up (this should take it to about 900 - 950lbs pressure. is not you could also take your sping out and get it lathed down to 700lbs 800lbs, this would make it more plush and still allow you to adjust your preload to a tighter setup.

if your just going to ride and not jump much then this might be a little stiff but if your going to ride tracks and do alot of jumping then dont downgrade the shock whatever you do.

Cheers, Tony.

k, ill see wat i think of it when i get the bike. if its too hard ill pm you keithprt

Yeh thanks Bones, the shock looks the goods to me but this is the only place ive been able to find them online. Ive checked out these stores and none seem to have them. If anyone could give me a link to somewhere local that sells them or an equivilent shock for preferably $300 or cheaper it would be greatly appreciated.

I also noticed this cheapo fast ace shock from elstars for $130http://www.elstars.com.au/view.php?product=face-bs33ar-280l. Would this thing hold up allright or would it be better spending that bit extra for the other. Im not going to be profesionally racing or anything, just want somthing strong which can hit a few jumps in relative comfort.

if the 33AR is the one i am thinking of which it is (webpage took a little to load up.) then this shock has the same spring, same preload adjustments, only difference is the spring is slightly smaller as the canister is fitted at the top but is refered to as an "air room / cavity" this will hold up just as well for what your looking at doing. had the rebound adjustments on the base and an air valve to put more pressure back into the shock if needed. these will hold up on anything like 65+ feet quite easily. i have done 60 feet on my pissy little 22AR which is the small weak one with a spring rating of 250lbs with a preload up to 600lbs and it handled it okay but needed replacing 4 weeks later. with one of these which is pre-loaded to 1000 from the box, there is no way its going to bust up due to a hard knock. covered with a 3 months warranty as well, just ride it hard, if it dont bust in the first 2 - 4 weeks you will be set.

Cheers, Tony.

EDIT : if your looking for something in the fastace range try www.fmr.net.au they are one of the major distributors for fastace on the eastern side of Australia (i think there in Queensland) so check them out if you still have no luck.
