lets you setup different ignition curve maps, lots of big bikes have it now, than you can switch between the different maps, which will give you different power patterns,

you do it in modded cars, you have a map for high octaine fuel, so the timing is advanced etc, which produces more power, than you can switch back if you wanna run around the streets to a more subtle ignition curve.

some of the IRK's come with them and a switch to change between them so you should start to see these appearing more in the pit bike scene. hopefully.

Be prepared to pay what you probably paid for your bike. ATM Big 50s only ones that sell Programmable ignition aftermarket so its like $800-$1000 just for said product. Motovert dont even sell em aftermarket yet tho they are sellin em on the 08 Pro.
