125cc exhaust/muffler

I have heard a few ways to quiet down the noise from an atomik/orion dirt bike. like putting chicke wire and steel wool inside the muffler. Does this screw up the compression or decrease the engines performance? Would it be better to just buy some muffler packing or is there a better way? :?

dont know about chiken wire, but i've put a sleeve into me pipe ad fitted some brass fitting into that and put a screw in the side, don't think it changes performance?? but the only downside is that it doesn't look the best ill try to gt sum pics up
