Been browsing this site for awhile now as I have wanted to buy another pitty as the mrs claimed my motovert 125. I got stuck looking at ycf's braaaps and motoverts but being in Qld there were not many for sale. I Tried getting in touch with Carlts about his pister pro but he seems inactive these days. So . . . I ended up with a 2012 Braaap factory 190. Guy I purchased it off sent me old photos and in person bike was a lot older and worse for wear then I anticipated. Was sitting for 8 months supposedly had flat tyre crappy front guard surface rust all over. Seemed to start and run fine. So it was purchased.

Decided to drain the oil straight away in the bike and I'm glad I did oil filter full of metal shavings and what do you know clutch basket teeth in the oil strainer FML!

Rh side cover was pulled off to confirm what I already now know and to inspect any further damage as there were quite a lot of teeth the guy was obviously using it with a screwed clutch basket gear for quite some time

So with the clutch gear stuffed and a Cpl of others with some damage it was decided to strip the bike and drop the engine.

Pulled the bike down to a roller so I could give everything a decent clean and scrub as I'm happy with everything on it as it sits might change the bars later on but when it gets built back up ill see what I decide. Now where I would like some input Roughly I think I will be spending around $300 - $500 on parts for the Daytona 190 to repair it properly depending on what I wish to replace. I'm in 2 minds weather to bother or not and just purchase a new engine like a gpx160 or a 150 of the sorts Can anyone give any feedback on what they would do in this situation. I know my67xr and gottagetacheaperhobby may of done clutch repairs to theres and changed over the clutch basket gear with another to keep it cheaper. So for the time being I'm contemplating. Here it sits clean . . . . . . .

I would 100% be rebuilding that engine mate. Nothing comes close other then a highly modified Zonger or Yx motor. There is a bloke in Vic that has a few 190s with cracked cases from the first batch of them. This is his Ebay store: michaelray03 items - Get great deals on throttle, PISTON KITS items on eBay Stores!

Send him a message and ask about the clutch basket. He should have some hopefully.

Hopefully that helps you mate.
Cheers

I've always been a fan of the looks of this bike , the frame looks trick I reckon

Definitely keep that engine and repair it :grinning-smiley-003

cheers for the replys guys good to see this site still active. i messaged that bloke on ebay not heard back yet. dhz have the complete clutch for 169 i think but then i need a cpl of other damaged gears gaskets timing chain while im at it so starts to add up. if i was to replace id probably go the pister pro 155 160 gpx motor. but ill wait until i tear into this more to see what im up for. patrick from ycf has been very helpful with replacement plastics etc so hopefully he can help me out with some of the extra parts i need.

Thats the exact same thing that happened to my daytona :/ except mines a little worse :/

So I was having a closer look at the motor today and I noticed one of the bearings behind the clutch has worn through the case a touch it has some horizontal movement when you push pull the clutch and it has a tiny bit of vertical movement. You can see the gap between the 2 pictures in the area circled in red. Is this a gear box bearing or the main crank bearing if its the crank main bearing I think I wont bother rebuilding it What do you think. And if you agree WHAT MOTOR SHOULD I GET??? I want something with a bit more go then my motovert 125 so a lifan 140? Pitster pro 160ho? gpx150? yx150? Opinions please!

If you buy a new engine, make sure the head has a crf50 style exhaust portbso you dont need a new exhaust. The only engine i know for sure that does, in the cc's your looking at, is the yx 150 and 160. Neither will match the performance of the 190, unless you start modding them pretty heavy.

i was thinking the pitster pro ho engine. 640 from.dhz at this point in time seems the better option. what do you think by the photos of that bearing? needs the case replacing? new motor and probably rebuild the 190 in the future.

Im not sure if that bearing i normally like that tbh, maybe my67xr will chime in.... if you go with the ho engine (its actually a zongshen, pitster pro dont actually make their own engines, they just put their stamp on them lol) you will need either a exhaust adapter, or a yx head, as the ho has a klx110 style port.
The ho engines suffer from way to soft valve springs, but besides that they are a solid engine..

Jumped the gun today and purchased a yx160. Can't be stuffed with the 190 for the time being. So do I need an exhaust port adapter? To suit the exhaust I had off the Daytona 190? Can you buy those? Also will I need a carby adapter to use the carb off the 190 on the yx160?

Not for the yx, your 190 exhaust should bolt straight up.
You should get away with just purchasing a new inlet manifold, the 190 has larger hole spacings where the inlet manifold bllts on to the head. I reckon the jetting would be way to rich for a stock 160 to, so order some smaller jets. I cant help with the jet sizes, as i only know the jetting for oko and keihin carbs sorry.

Next day delivery from dhz for the new motor nsw to qld pretty impressive! few little things needed doing to get it to fit properly but all sorted. ncc pipe adapter on its way aswell. going to try the carb off the daytona 190 and see how it goes. would be the stock carb not sure whay came on the 190 stock from 2012. hopefully by the weekend it should resemble a bike again. new plastics and stickers comming from ycf to hopefully before the weekend

Defs a 160ho, which is in reality a 155cc. Think its a 22mm mikuni braaap used, which is in reality way under carbed even for the 155cc..

As Stu said Braaap use a 22mm mikuni copy carb which is utter junk. I would be trying to track down a Keihin Pe28. It is a bit of a cost at the time but that carb will work on heaps of different motors.

bike is slowly getting there. will get it running on the 22 and will upgrade the carb next week. would a pe28 be to big for a stock 160? and has anybody used rhe knock off keihins? how do they go? getting the exhaust to fit is going to be a nightmare. purchased a ncc pipe adapter but getting the exhaust to clear the frame were it runs through is going to be a pain! such little room between the shock and frame. new plastics and stickers with a few red bits certainly cleans it up!!
