Another n00b question.... CDI's???

Hey ppl, this may be another dumb question to some of you and to others a curiosity to others...

But is the black box under the seat of china bikes called a 'CDI' if so what does it do??

And what diffrence would a performance CDI make??

the performance one wont make it go any faster but it will rev abit higher and reach the hi rev range quicker

very very basic computer if youd like to think of it as that, main thing it handles is the rev mapping for you engine
