Chain roller

while i was riding my bike my rubber chain roller wore off (ive had the bike for a while). i got a new one from the shop but there was rubber and a hard plastic but i got the rubber. then i put it on and after a couple mins the chain shredded it off...would it be better to get a hard plastic one?

Thanks..i got the rubber because it was a bit more expensive so i thought it would be better lol

The rubber one should be fine, make sure that the roller spins freely, as it would wear quick if its not able to spin.
