clutch/gearbox problem??

a friend of mine was putting around in 2nd gear as she is just learning, the gearbox suddenly seemed to seize and we couldn't get it into or out of any gear.
i pushed it back and forth for a bit and it seemed to "free up" after a bit.
now it seems as though there is drag somewhere in the clutch/ gearbox.
would the clutch need adjusting as you don't need to let the lever out far to get it to engage.
or would there possibly be another problem and has this happened to anyone here before??

any help will be appreciated.

I been thinking on it but cant help sorry, if you find the problem post it up, i would be interested to know what it is

ok......i took the inspection cover off that covers the clutch lever workings and noticed that there had ben water in and around it probably from my last ride.
took on some major holes full of water up in the bush last weekend.
cleaned it all out and sprayed shedloads of wd40 all over and into it and it seems to be fine for now.
im going for another ride today so we will see how it goes.
