coolster 125cc big bore

I have a coolster 125cc, my son is perfect size for the bike but would like a bit more power. rather than looking for a bigger bike since it fits perfect, i was looking at big bore kits and intake/carb combos. has anyone tried doing these on the chinese dirt bikes?

my engine code is FH157FMI, Qg-214 coolster
does the head need to be modified or replaced to benefit from the added bore size or will the carb/intake be fine if the valves are adjusted correctly with new bigger jug?
