Grinding Noise When Accelerating.

Hey i recently picked up a 2nd hand pit bike and when i got it home and rode it i relized it has a rather loud grinding noise when i accelerate. I think it either comes from the motor or the gear box, but im not sure what it is. Does any1 no what it could be and how to fix it??? any suggestions would be great... thanks

chain tension right? mine was a bit noisy the other day and chain was a bit too loose

^^^good place to start, if its a shagged gearbox then your gunna have to split the case's, drop the oil and look for shavings of metal, that will be a good indicator, if you cant repair the box yourself your probably better upgrading the motor it will cost the same by the time you pay for labour and parts
