how to remove lock nut on clutch

as the title says, how do i remove the lock nut on the clutch in my daytona engine, do i just tap away with a pin punch or do i need a special lock nut wrench?.....is the thread left hand or normal?

we had to smack it with a big screwdriver and a mallet.
Couple big smacks will move it.

ya i did belt it a couple of times with hammer and big screwdriver but i am only damaging it and it wouldn't budge, so just keep wacking it and it should move

I wouldn't reccommend doing it with a hammer and mallet. If you stuff the main shaft, your in for a real fun job.

or you can mod a old socket to suit just grind the notches in it
