suspension is such a black art. what suits one rider doesnt suit another. no two set ups are exactly the same. i have Raced KTMs, no linkage there. suspension worked fine, much easier to tune the high speed compression dampening than the linkage jap bikes in my opinion.
 
linkages are usally a rising rate if they got it right.
for example if the wheel was to move 100mm at the start of travel .the shock would be compressed 10mm.
then as the wheel was at the last 100mm of travel the shock would be compressed 20mm
so the shock is compressed faster as it gets closer to bottoming out .
which makes it stiffer . getting excited?
these numbers are only for example !!!

the suspension moves toward the front of the bike as it lowers
