pw 50 copy carb woes

no air filter-many fumes backflowing out of carb. Bike starts poorly. Sometimes can be reved up. Suspect float height wrong/inconsistent. no obvious float adjustment. Will not run well, or with air filter. Definitely rich, even without the choke- new BP4HS plug looks ok
bike is aged and thrashed-float tongue may be worn/fatigued?

Drive position is at central switch position, with start at rear switch position. Is this right??

Check the exhaust port and/or the exhaust pipe for being clogged up with carbon deposits.
The engine could be down on compression, worn rings.

Can get full power 'when' it does clear, 86kg rider can be pulled ok, seems to start better, but definitely too rich-will check port, after I remove the pipe. Compression seems ok. Fuel blowback worries me. we've leaned it as far as we can, main jet not leaking on thread. I'll report back tomorrow.

exhaust port is clear, I still think the reed may be faulty,but of course, I don't have a tool to get in there to get to it without dropping the motor. My large Caucasian hands/no Allen screws aren't much use either. We shall see.........
