Cheers.

Its easier to justify buying a cheap bike to the missus, then spending a bit of coin on a weekly basis to bring it up to spec, which goes unnoticed. Granted the frame and forks are crap, they can be replaced with better quality in the coming weeks or months along with other sundry bits and pieces.

Funilly enough, it was no problem justifying spending $500-$700 on freestyle pants, jerseys, gloves, helmet, etc etc.. Women and their fashion DNA strand dont have budgets!!

Yeah I know the story. There are many funny postings on exactly this topic. But it's a fine balance - of course.

Keep in mind that there's the frame, then the forks, which are joined by the clamps, and it's not always interchangeable in stages.

If your missus does the books and/or checks all receipts then you're in trouble and you need to have the serious talk with her about life priorities.

Ideally you put away (save) some money for the purpose, then buy it, and keep in mind that's it much easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission!

The other option is to have a "stealth credit card" handy, which you also have the capacity/income to pay off at a reasonably fast rate. In which case you just lash out once in a while and get a good machine. Eg. July is almost here. Typically the best month to buy a new 250F or 450F MX bike on run out sale before next years models come out. eg. $8900 instead of $11500. The colour/brand doesn't really matter these days, but the price always does! ;)

tax refund is also a healthy stealthy option!
