Ok so i have been doing a bit of searching and i have found a link which has a chart showing ratios for sprocket combination's. I don't really know much about what different combination's can provide better power etc... but if you're like me, still learning, this should be of some help, i found it kinda complicated to figure out but once you know what to do its easy.

you can, if you don't have this chart, divide the amount of teeth on the rear by the amount on the front, to get the ratio.
then with the ratio, do a percentage calculation between old ratio and prospective/new one to see if it what your after.
