my hummer 250's electric starter doesn't work, any tips on how to trouble shoot. I'm sick of using the kick.

hey mate,
1st of all run back all the lines. like i mean go back over every cable n check to see if anythings popped out. check the battery change of needed.

same problem with mine do u get a clicking noise comin from the solenoid when u push in the button?

My bike is the same i think it is the coil because i can hear a clicking noise coming from it and it will not engage the starter. So you may need a new coil.

battery is going flat.... i had the clicking noise on my quad. charged battery works fine now. you just might have a dead cell or something. but it sure does sound like its the battery tho.

Did it ever work? or did it just stop working?
if it never worked, try pulling the front brake lever in and the give it a go while doing this, some have a safety switch which prevents start unless the brake or clutch is engaged....
My sons 21's electric start never worked until by pure accident he had hold of the front brake and bumped the start button. I sat there a laughed for 10 mins thinking of how big a dick heads we were.
That was 3 months after he got the bike... Damn safety conscious Chinese...

, hasn't worked since bought s/hand,
previous owner has no idea. (a young guy, surf bump!)
I've tried clutch and brake, no luck and no clicking.
i'll just build my log cabin and get back out there.
hope to get this problem fixed soon so i can take it
away to my friends farm out west.

Nothing wrong with surf bum's...... good luck with it..

starter problem fixed hummer 250

hey guys, good news.
did what u suggested and here's what i found

took off wire too the starter and connected jump starter direct, works!
then with my trusty multi meter i began to check wires.
no curcuit from battery to starter
took out battery (no water!)
filled and put on charger. overnite.
battery now ok
took out solenoid, checked operation ok
checked curcuit solenoid to starter ok
checked curcuit battery to solenoid no good
noticed wire as very light gauge, must have burnt out under load,
got new wire made at battery shop ($5):)
solenoid not switching
took off starter switch from handle bar
missing spring under contact, put in new one now ok

problem solved,ooohrah!
lessons learnt,
never believe what the seller tells u,
he knows even less than his mechanic does!
if it aint right don't hand over the money.
beware of shadetree mechanix
persistance pays off
bye for now, i'm going riding.
