hey guys,
im think bout getting my first pit bike this weekend, just to hav a little fun on. the bike im looking at has a 125cc lifan engine, ive looked around and seen that other bikes with these engines hav a max load of 120kgs. im around 100-105kg and was wondering, do they move alot slower with sum1 a little more heavy?

cheers, Pat

Yes
me and my freind race on a 250m track, i weigh 80kg,my freind weighs 60kg, we both have equal bikes and he beeats me about 3 seconds off the finish line.

yes you will feel a bit of power difference if you are close to the maximum load,
best get a 150-160cc engine, that will pull you around alot better than a 125cc

125s are piss weak. If I was you I'ld be looking at a 140 - 160:
- NEW ATOMIK NITROUS 160CC PIT DIRT BIKE MOTOR THUMPSTAR - eBay Other Trail Bikes, Trail Bikes, Motorcycles, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 10-Apr-10 17:45:12 AEST)
- NEW ATOMIK NITROUS 150CC MOTOR PIT DIRT BIKE THUMPSTAR - eBay Other Trail Bikes, Trail Bikes, Motorcycles, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 11-Apr-10 18:45:27 AEST)

You pretty much pay for an engine with those bikes and you need to be good with a spanner.

your going to be in need of help when you get a new bike so take a look at these threads (This is a basic thing to what you should do to your bike once you get it):

First thing you do to the engine is drop the shipping oil and put in some new stuff:
- Shell Advance 4T Motorbike Oil - 15W-40, 1 Litre - Supercheap Auto
- Castrol Activ 4T Motorbike Oil - 15W-50, 1 Litre - Supercheap Auto

Then check your valves... VERY IMPORTANT!!:

Might want to have a look at some mods to do to your bik as well:

What ever you get you'll be happy as larry with it ;).

lol, how much time did you spend writing up that post?:p

He is right tho, 125's are a pile of shit and are for carrying around little kids (30-40kg),
if you are looking for a bit of a rush, go the 160cc

Not long actually. I know where and what I look for when I do one of those posts. I know where all the threads are located aswell so I just have two tabs open at a time and go through and find what I need.

That one took less then 10 mins. I've done longer posts then that, that have taken 30mins to find a link.. Oh well. I put most of that stuff there for reference.

Back on subject;

14/17 combo is good for trail riding. Do you have a pic or link to the actually bike you want to buy? Or is it in the newspaper?

For some body at your size don't even bother looking below a 140. Not only will you be disapointed in the power but you'll get over it soon and come back on here asking how to get more power.

I never heard of that bike company befor but their bikes look just like every other eBay bike I've seen and at the price of that 125 you could get a 160 which is not only faster but has a better parts then that particular modle.

Atomik Nitrous is a bang for your buck bike and with a little work will do you proud. Have a look at the first link I provided and have a quick search around the forum and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Goodluck with it.

atomik are alrite you reckon? ive seen the bikes before, and ive looked at the atomik link 250's aswel. read a review about them, and they said the only bad things were, smaking ur balls on the fuel tank, gold chain stretche, and the rear shock bushes shit themselves quickly.
so maybe you got me thinking twice, i just hav a budget id like to stick under.
but hey, you guys know a bit more bout this stuff than me...

my budget, ha, well i was goin for as cheap as possible. i think im gonna through $800 at the nitrous 160 including the $120 postage 2 my place. plus i dont hav any riding gear, so i nead sum coin for that.
im saving my ass off for a house so i dont wana blow too much money.

and i hav no problem with tinkering around before i play, im a 2nd year diesel mechanic, so id love 2 actually pull it apart for a reason. so ill be studying the atomik auctions now.

Yeah the set up is probily the best thing you could do to your bike in its lifetime..

Goodluck with it and keep us posted on how you go with it ;).
