ok heres the deal i got a ridiculusly small turbo from a smart car and its already mounted on the bike with a custom manifold and all. How do i retard the timing on these things? does the stock cdi box run less timing compared to the tawagara, cause thats whats on there now. And also is there a thicker head gasket that i can buy for it (its got an 88cc kitaco big bore). Thanks guys in advance.

cant help u with the ignition thing man but juss wanted to say good luck, let us knoe how ya go!

call Shawn MX Madness 02 9600 6480 he has had a 125cc running with one

How about an inner rotor kit with adjustable timing or an off-set keyway on the flywheel?

stunt 101: Does he have an email address, Im in the United States and that would be a very long distance call for me.

50's Brotherhood #1: I got the turbo on ebay for $150, search "tiny turbo" and it should come up.

Cbr900rr Rider: I can't use the inner rotor kit because the bike needs a stator, its street legal and I have to put some lights on it. As for the off-set keyway on the flywheel that might work, do they make flywheels with that or should i get machining?

Firstly, the compresion. What figures is your bike blowing, you may have to lower it to around 8`s.Next,yes a good premium gasket kit will need to be installed, good luck. You can machine the keyway to alter the timing that much, but the info on a turbo 50 might be pushing it.You might get an idea from HRC,somebody is bound to have a worked 50 racer, that may give you a start, just buy a few keyways incase you get it wrong.Come to think of it,try a MOTA engineering programme, that will tell you where you should have it firing

well i have a mill that i will use to machine any parts that my need it, as for the compression, im sure its too high, so i will be custom machining a ~2mm thick head gasket which should drop the compression signifacantly. the real issue is the timing....

Your right there mate.Machining is done to the keyway locater.I have the specs for my old TZRr250 race setup NZ + AUS CAMS approved locater machining specs, but that`s no good is it?
But to cut to the chase. At what angle are you wanting firing?Does it centrifigually or pneumatically advance? By how many degrees?
By mapping the crank angles, you should be able to get a relatively close measurement of how much you shave or shape the locater.Using of couse a centre line through the crank, then measure the differences between maximum adjustment and the new angle.I suggest it be slightly undercut by 0.5mm,in that I mean it should be done to a tolerance + 0.5mm.It will squash some. Then a good ear for tuning and how carefull you are with a file make their paydirt.
Question remains....What is that angle on the dangle?

A turbo 50,hahahahahahaha,that`s it,I really have had a lost my marbles.A simple Roots type compressor would have been suffice.

Before I continue. Are you perhaps looking at breaking the bonneville 50cc 2 stroke record? Held by Kawasaki me thinks. It makes my mind boggle at where you could use such a machine. It surely would not have much torque left after the compessions lowered significantly, turbo restrictions are added. You would need a good relatively smooth straight.I can help you in theory, but I think this is madness unless want to do constant high engine rev road circuit racing. But how to get it off the line? OUUUCCCCHHHH says the clutch. That is a problem that should have been already addressed,at least add a plate.

What do you know about the turbo? What boost (various standards of measure),feed, drive force/pressure needed, etc. You will have to work some small blow off valve,to be sure

its a draw through set-up, so no BOV.... as for the drive force needed, lets just say i can make it spin really quick by blowing into it... boost pressures, imnot sure yet i think it will start at 7psi(i believe thats wastegate pressure) and then go from there.... and for the compression it shouldn't kill down low torque too much....

what it looks like is i may have to buy the really expensive programmable ignition set up from two brothers, we'll have to see.... im going to bolt up the set-up tomorrow night as of now and i'll post some pics so you guys can check it out....

Don`t tell me you are getting sucked into the hype too. Now,can you justifiably tell me why you need a programable ECU for a unit such as this?
Everythings hard wired brutha.Next it`ll be a variable camshaft/oil pressure makeover.XR50turbo=OK,YZ50(1980)turbo=fun

Hey Harda why don't you read the thread b4you start posting your baffling bs. Its a four stroke cause he's talking about an XR50. And of you knew anything about the bike at all you would know that it has only electronis advance through the CDI box. DO you even ride a fifty or are you just a computer forum junkie with too much spare time and a Motor engineers hand book by your side.

I like to turbo things, and im good at it... i turboed my friends grand am, its running 300whp, i turboed my camaro, god only knows how fast it is cause it wont ever hook up and it had a street tune, and i drive a subaru wrx... its just what i do, and on every thing i have turboed, i have had a computer to control the iginition and the fuel. Now granted i won't have fuel injection in this case. its just not viable, but i would still like to have a way to program the ignition so that my piston doesn't hit me in the chin when it goes into boost
