What are these 5 wires for

Hi

Just pulled the seat and plastics off the kids china bike. Their is a plug with 5 wires that run from the motor, see photos below. Would anyone know what these are for? as they are currently doing nothing but sitting their and striking my curiosity.

The wires I am referring to are the smaller bundle on the right below

i pretty sure they are for the Electric start. and the electric start on these bikes last like maybe a week before they break.

Are they needed for the electric start? as the starter motor has always worked fine and these wires have never been plugged into anything.

They are for a gear position indicator

Thanks Custom, does it need some type of computer etc etc to utilise it? can it do more than just indicate gears?
