Just stuck at the moment, the story goes is that I have put a new piston and rings as well as new valves and rocker kit I have lapped the valves and got everything back together but when I set the timing up (9 &12) the piston knocks on the exhaust valve wondering if any one else has had this problem and how do I go about fixing it

Back the valve's off, and turn the engine back to tdc on the compression stroke lining up both mark's, cam mark to 9 o'clock and flywheel t mark to 12 o'clock
Then adjust the valve/rocker clearance's to .003" and .004 "
Turn engine over a couple of time's to check the valve's aren't hitting the piston,
Then turn it back to tdc on the compression stroke and check rocker/valve's with feeler gauge's again and then put the rocker cover's back on the engine and you're done.
