    The Ollie Rocket project

Also, anyone know where I can get the same tank sticker as this one?? I'm thinking of getting some vinyl from a sign writer to stick onto the number plates to make them red like this, but not sure. Anyone got any other ideas about make the bike look 'finished'? I'm thinking its missing...

    The Ollie Rocket project

So I had a chat to the bloke who gave the motor a tidy up, on other matters, and mentioned my problems. Carby for sure, and cleanliness. He locked into the pilot jet, as its not one that can be removed, he suggested soaking in something caustic (vinegar? CT14?) for a while, and then lots of...

Cheers for the tips mate, will have a look at things from that angle. I'm not adverse to thinking it might be points, or at least 'electrically' related. Guess its the same old thing of keep it simple. Start at the beginning and all that. Had the air cleaner off and was marginally better but...

    The Ollie Rocket project

just torn down the carby, moved the clip down one and its no better. I can get it passable off idle and nearly half throttle but from then on it just goes to hell... Just won't rev any further. Maybe air? Surely it has enough fuel?! I do recall some metal baffle plate that goes in the air...

without trying it yet, I'd say you'll be spot on the money with fixing the carby. I just didn't know which areas to focus on and how to go about it, so thanks for all the detail!! Much appreciated!! The gearbox issue did indeed turn out to be the auto clutch adjuster, so thats adjusted and now...

    The Ollie Rocket project

Okay, so we've made some good progress! I've got the bike all buttoned up, and it started second kick!! Let it warm up a bit, and had a bit of a ride. Great, all things good for a first start. Then things start to get a bit annoying. Naturally as you gently roll around, you slowly start...

    The Ollie Rocket project

Got the motor back this weekend - glass bead blasted cases, new valves, new piston kit, new shifter arm, seals, points, gaskets obiously etc. Apparently motor looked like it had been breathing a bit of rubbish for quite a while, but otherwise just an old motor. A hone was all that was...

    The Ollie Rocket project

So I went to see Andy at Big50 off Jaime's recccomendation, and seems to be a good guy. Had a ride of an reasonably mild 88 to see which way to go, and we've decided to simply restore this motor. So its been stripped down and gone over, and in the list of items that needed replacing, nothing...

mechanic to rebuild z50 motor SE Melbs

gave big50's a call on Jaime's reccomendation - see what comes of that. Will keep all your suggestions at hand, thanks for the tips. Was just looking over the remains of the motor, 'someone' is going to have a bit of a job on...

mechanic to rebuild z50 motor SE Melbs

now lets not get upset at my choice of words, I'm just trying to thin out the pretenders. I am absolutly positive that quite a few of your are exceptional at what you can do to a motor, but you'll appreciate its hard to get that represented on an internet forum. A shopfront is 'supposed' to be a...

mechanic to rebuild z50 motor SE Melbs

As title states, looking for a reputable mechanic/engine shop to rebuild a z50 motor back to being as reliable as the factory made it, with maybe a sniff of performance (as who can really stand to tear something apart and rebuild it without improving it...) Chasing rock solid reliability, and...

    The Ollie Rocket project

cheers mate, getting there slowly Its not so much that I'm struggling for places to find things, it more about learning what I actually need to do... The end game for this bike is to make is as bulletproof as possible. I want to be able throw fresh fuel in it and kick it in the guts at any...

    The Ollie Rocket project

Without a motor, its getting plenty of pushing around the back yard with the little fellah on it, but its smiles for miles no matter what. Currently saving for the motor side of things. Will need to pick the collective brains about getting the thing freshened up, but more to come...

    Rekluse or autoclutch for YX140??

ah well, you never know your luck till you try. Interested in zwebx setup tho, I know rekluse did something similar for big bikes, will look into it further! Would be a bit of a mind bender having the two lever close to one another, but I can't get my brake lever in a decent spot to wear work...

    Rekluse or autoclutch for YX140??

On the hunt for an autoclutch for a yx140?! Rekluse make anything for it? Want to get the back brake onto the handlebars and dispense with the clutch, to get some nicer wheelies going. Anyone know if such a think exists? I'm staring at the one on the z50r thats in bits, thinking surely...
