Hi Guys,
I've been looking around on ebay at mini bikes (the lower-end of $ possibilities)
and i've come up with two major brands, around the same price - the atomik and thumpstar.

I was wondering If I could get some guidance as to which one is better, and will last longer? I can't expect miracles for the price, I know you can go for BRAAAP in the higher end, but i guess i'm just looking for a bit of cheaper fun, not looking at competitions or too large $$ outlay.

some of my thoughts -
- do they both have spare parts easily available?
- the atomik looks like it also has electric start

I've been looking through the forums, and found the great guide:
http://www.miniriders.com.au/mini-chat/29627-bike-your-budget-no-more-bike-should-i-buy-threads.html
but it doesn't really mention thumpstars in the lower-end bracket.

I really appreciate some help for my hopefully first of many posts :)

TIA
NIC

Get the atomik. And make sure you do everything right before you start it.. Someone else can link it up coz I'm on my phone. But there's a few threads on setting up your bike so it will last then you can maybe start modding it..

Either will do the job your after as long as you set it up and maitian it properly.

Both are easy to get parts for via ebay/Dhz etc.

Let us know what you decide on.

thanks guys, You've been helpful. I appreciate such quick replies. would someone kindly be able to point me in the direction of a good post to assist in "getting everything right before you start it"

to be more specific, the atomic motox is the model in the atomik i'm looking at.

if i was you i would get a genunine thumpsatr , people saay they arnt that grate and shit but i have had mine for comeing up 3 years with bealy any problems but thats juat my imput lol

ok, not sure if you realised this but alot of people call pit bikes thumpstars,
pit bikes are pit bikes and thumpstars are thumpstars (thumpstar is a brand of pit bike)

if you search thumpstar on ebay youl get bikes like "pit pro's" , "tdr's" and a few others, and these bikes arnt known for quality.. lol

but there seems to be great words about the genuine thumpstars..

im not 100% sure if they are still made? so thats something some one else will have to confirm for you:)

good luck mate and im sure youl find the answer your looking for soon

for refrence this is a pic of a genuine thumpstar.

lol no mate i wasnt, i seen an oportunity to point out a mistake by admin and jumped on it.

Motorman happily edited my post to say what it does.

Edit: Let this be a lesson to all other members, dont try to own a mod/admin...they will edit your post and own you.

oh ok, lol sorry :)
thanks for helping me clear it up re: thumpstars.

mattbombers, thanks for posting a pic of a gen one, looks different to the 'thumpstars' i'm looking at on ebay.

I think i'm going to go a atomik motox 125cc at this stage.

Aaargh, avoid the Motox!

If you are going to invest in an Atomik, get the Nitrous... It is far superior to the Motox and not much more expensive :)

(It mentions the Nitrous specifically in the "which bike" thread...)

Seeing as BD93 isn't around, read through this (stolen shamelessly from BD93):

First thing you do to the engine is drop the shipping oil and put in some new stuff:
- Shell Advance 4T Motorbike Oil - 15W-40, 1 Litre - Supercheap Auto
- Castrol Activ 4T Motorbike Oil - 15W-50, 1 Litre - Supercheap Auto

Then check your valves... VERY IMPORTANT!!:
