Hey everyone,

As of today I am an owner of a Thumpstar 120 and I cant seem to start the bike...
It is a kick and electric start. Petrol is set to on, choke is on and wont start up and idle.
There was a key which came with it, I assume this is for the electric start? If so where does it go I cant find it.... What am I doing wrong?

I had a ttr125 afew years ago and it would start up quickly everytime :(
Also I just saw fuel dropping out from under the bike, is this because ive flooded it?

Sorry I am not technical minded with these things...

Any help will be appreciated I am dam close to pulling out my hair.

hey mate by the sounds of things you have flooded the bike thats why the fuel would be dripping out and im not shore about where the key would go so ill leave that for some else i hope that helps.
cheers jesse

sometime the key goes in another type of kill switch that is set on the frame make sure the key is turned to egition and not off hope that helps also check if it has spark and while the spark plug is out push it over with your hand with a rag in the hole to see if your getting fuel to it if you have spark and there is fuel getting the the sparkplug and the key is in and turned to ignition it could be the cdi box hope i helped

I feel like such an idiot but thanks for clearing up that issue :)
Maybe the choke should be off while im starting? I hope someone can explain to me how to use the electric start, and if this key is of any use.

Thanks for the help so far:)

There should be an ignition barrel somewhere and it could be the reason your bike wont start as you need to have the ignition on regardless of which option you use to start it.

The petrol dripping is most probably coming from your carby overflow. If you turn your fuel off and give it a few kicks it can help clear it otherwise let it sit for a while.

Get some pics up Deva0o!

Ok so minifighter I checked and found the ignition barrel so thank you :)
Basically now all I have to do is ignition on, fuel on, then press onto the electric start button?
Or is that wrong...?

And yes it was the $400 one on ebay. Why is that a bad buy? :(

Will it electric start like that while flooded? Because it isnt doing anything...

no it was an extremely good deal. well done have fun on it

I know this is abit silly to say... But I am not the strongest girl out there so kicking it seems to fail on my part not the bike itself:bigcry: So I really hope the battery isnt dead...
In 30 minutes I will try electric start it again, if that fails I will try kick start it.
Will post back here after my attempts.

Thank you all for helping me.... I am so hopeless but am learning as I go.

you more than likely have a kill switch on the handle bars too.. make sure that is switched to on (push the small button in so the bigger one is out)

I know it's been a while, did the new battery work?

Some bikes need the brake lever pulled in to get the e-start to work also
