Is there any secret tips to changing a tyre and putting in a new tube for the front wheel. i have tyre levers for starters.

Cheers

try and try again!!

Its pretty hard but you get the hang of it after a while...

And soapy water makes it work a little easyer

Lube up the side of the tyre, use grease or even KY Jelly works well  that stuff has a few good uses :D .

yea, some crc helps.
generally start by putting the first lever in around near the valve stem, and push the tyre down into the rim so its off the bead on the opposite side. put the second lever in close to that and lever the bead up. Use the correct end of the lever, and be carefull not to pinch the tube ( dont worry if the tube is being replaced though but be carefull not to pinch when u put it back on) .

Or, take it to your local bike shop, they will probably have a tyre changer.

Looks easy on a bigger wheel, bit more tricky at times with ur smaller pitbike rims.

It helps to heat tyres up by putting them out in the sun as they stretch a bit easier that way ...

To help avoid damaging alloy rims you can buy the spoon type tyre levers which are wider where they contact the rims ... (I've seen quite a few butchered chinese rims from use of the wrong tools ... :p)

And you can also buy plastic rim protectors ... or make some cheaply from old bent garden hose that's gone a bit hard ...

Mini wheels are pretty easy because they are just so small to handle. Achmed is on to it. Videos are the go!

Some pointers which come to mind:
* Don't attempt it unless you have some dishwashing liquid and a brush. I only mix about 50% water in it, so real thick and slippery.
* Don't attempt it without good boots, to break the bead and also to hold the beads in the middle of the rim on the opposite side.
* Remove the valve core to deflate.
* Start and finish with the levers at the valve stem.
* The less experienced you are at it, be super careful not to pinch the tube. Use a little torch if doing it at night time.
* Removal: Tube removed fully after you get the first bead off. Yes it can hurt your hands to best to toughen up.
* Installing: Semi inflate tube. Holding wheel vertical between your legs when standing - Valve stem just into rim, then tube into the tyre, then get the rim lock in place and put one bead on. Check rimlock is free to move. With good soap lube the first bead often goes on without levers.
* Think and don't go beserk with the levers. The levers are needed for just the very beginning or end of each bead wire. The rest is by without tools. Actually you use hands, feet (if the wheel is laying flat) and sometimes knees when holding the wheel upright to really deform a tyre and rip it on or off.
* Some cheap china tyres are so crap they just rip off by hand like BMX tyres. More expensive tyres, especially full sized, are much harder to get on/off.
* Look after your discs. Think about which side will be on the ground when you stand on the tyre.
