I have modified a push bike brake cable before to use as a throttle cable on my son's PW50
You need an LPG torch, some flux and solder though to solder the cable end on
Bike cable end's are a bit big too, so they need to be filed down a bit to fit nicely in the throttle and carby slide.
A brand new throttle cable is between $10 and $20 though, so sometime's it's not worth the hassle unless you are away riding etc.
You can also buy a cable repair kit too, they are a handy thing to keep in your tool box.
Local bike shop's sell them for around $25-$30 though. Universal Motorcycle Emergency Throttle Cable Repair KIT FOR Suzuki Yamaha ETC | eBay
For the throttle end of the cable, you might be able to find a bonnet cable end at a wrecker's too and use that as a temporary thing
Thanku so much for your very informative response.
I thought of doing it DIY but then I thought of swinging by the shop. Bought a new cable for about $30AUD...will be replacing it today....also your tip about the kit sounds good. Will work on that...!
Thanks heaps for your response...
So I set out to try and replace the throttle cable. Turns out I have to pull the bike apart to access the carby. So I just decided to dismantle the bike and then put it together after I complete the cable swap...
