hey there.
i need some help with my dipstick, i think ive got to much oil in the bike.

i dont know how to use a dipstick partly because i guess you could call me one.

so my problem is can someone post a pic of what it should look like when you take it out, clean it then dip it back in.

id post a pic but i dont know the password for my photobucket account.

depending on what sort of motor is fitted,

once cleaned, refitted, then removed, the oil should come up to the full line marked across it near the bottom.
sometimes the dipstick isnt the correct one for the motor though.
some dipsticks dont have markings either.
best off finding the specs for your motor , drain it , and refill with that amount of oil.
they take 850mls in a few types...

Make sure you check the level with the bike upright and not leaning on the stand, easy mistake.

The thatched pattern on the stick to where it stops is the full mark. Also with the bikes that have the oil coolers I do the normal fill, run for a couple of mins, let sit for an hour then check level again and add if necessary.

I agree with Zorro.

It's important to let it sit for an hour or more because the oil level must be measured when cold and when all the oil has drained back to the bottom of the motor.
