Hi.. just a question about idle speed..
if my bike idle's high after its all warmed up its this going
to produce any problems.. simple fix would be to turn the
idle screw down.. but after i got it back from the shop where i
got it serviced they left the idle high and said it will be fine.
im thinking if they set it high it may have been for a reason..
What to you guys think ?

Cheers minifighter...

I didn't wanna start a new thread.. so i thought i'd just write in here..
I just had an expirience with my bike...
last night tried to go for a ride...
The bike took a a couple of kicks to start.. thats normal !
I let it idle with choke on for a little bit to warm it up, all good so i took
off riding, got about 10 metres down the way and it spluttered and died,
i thought.. hmm still a little cold.. kick it over again, well no, she didnt wanna fire.
Man i was there for half an hour trying to start the bad boy..
Nothing.. Tried plug, checked spark, went over most the things you can..
Nothing..
Got sick of it and left it for the night
Came back out to it this morning to give it a go, still nothing..
So i undid the carby bowl screw and no fuel dripping out..
It should run constantley from there right.. well it wasnt.
Long story a short.. put my mouth over the fuel tank ( yum that nice )
and gave a her a good blow... here came the fuel out of the bowl hose.
So i tried to give a the beast a kick and it fired, All good, ran great.
For some reason here must have a little blockage somewhere in the line...
Just another thing for people to look at when ya bike wont start.

Its a learning process.... i know if my bike dosent start after the fourth kick, something is wrong!
Check fuel, check spark lead, choke ect....
I see it all the time with people, not knowing how to start their own bike, get into a routine and then you will know if something is wrong and wont has to kick it all night.
I pull the choke, kick it, if it half fires, turn the choke off, kick it, kick it and then starts.

Very true Rumble.. you have to know your bike..
Me.. i dont know mine to well yet, only have it 3 weeks, gotta at least
know the main things to check if it doesn't start, fuel, spark ect ect.
Cheers for your thoughts Rumble

Well got the same problem back again and this time i cant
blow whatever is stuck in there out...
So what ever is stuck in there would it be stuck in the jet or
is there somewhere else it could be blocked..
The problem i have is there no fuel getting in the float, i undid the
the bowl screw and no fuel come out of the bowl, fuel should always
run outa there right ? ...
was also just told it could be the float sticking ! whats your thoughts

you should check where the blockage is, take the fuel line off from the carby end and see if fuel comes out, could be a blockage between tank and carby or even in the fuel filter (if you have one)

if that is clear then its blocked in your carby somewhere.

Cheers BananaMan .. Thought of that thoery just after i posted..
I cant get to the top of the carb.. its a little tight.. but i did take the hose
off just below the fuel filter.. and its not blocked there.. the fuel comes out..
So it would be really unlucky to have it block in the short hose between the
bottom of the filter and the top of the carb, so im thinking the carb is blocked
or the float is sticking !

my guess is there something blocking the float valve, usually a piece of rubber hose.

remove the carb then unscrew the float bowl, you will see the float with a pin that runs sideways. remove that and the valve and blow it out with air..

re-assemble and hope for the best.. but all should be good

Cheers Sean01... thats what im thinking, its just a sqeeze to get tools
up there to take carby off...
When i got more time, it looks like i'll be pulling the seat off and all that
to get to the carb and do it that way..

Update... Took the carb off and cleaned it all out, it had a 96 jet in it
so i put in a 106.. dam that made a huge difference..
The bike rides so much nicer, i turned the idle down as before i could only get
it idle when it was real high coz it would splutter and cough, and it fixed all that
and it also had a bit of a miss when i was accelerating through gears.. thats fixed
now too, so overall the bike is 100 % better.
Im so looking forward to getting out there and having a good ride.
