The NGK ER9EH is unfortunately the plug i have to run in the daytona anima 150F.

There rubbish plugs !!

1st plug which came in the motor .... first start of the bike wouldn't rev , backfired spluttered and idled up and down like a roller coaster and i thought it was the cdi but later discovered it was the plug !

Second plug .... worked fine , took it out to check the colour put it back in and bang it snapped clean in half without even getting it tight hmmmm ok

Rang around everywhere down here to even find one no one had heard of them ....anyway found some eventually and brought the last 3 he had it cost me $80 ouch !

3rd plug chucked it in and from a cold start it was a little bit of a ***** to keep going which was unusual because it never was before its been tuned out pretty spot on spent alot of time getting it right smooth linear throttle response great idle and nice coffee colour plug.... but once it warmed up it was fine ?? so i ran it for around 6 hours and it started loosing power got harder and harder to start cold and warm !

Now onto the 4th plug thank god its starting up perfect cold now first second kick its idling on choke and revving beautiful and all its power and glory has returned again ..

So to sum it up the NGK ER9EH is garbage and at close to $30 each its hurt my wallet a bit too !!!

ive had some good sucess with ngk sure its not down the line?

Ive had great success with NGK too in previous bikes just not this particular model they made that runs in the Daytona Anima

I wonder if there is an equivalent in another brand. Very odd huh, particularly from NGK.

i'd be trying to get onto NGK about the problem.
initial failure for 2 spark plugs, that should be a warranty thing?

they are a weird looking plug, honda specific,
they have a very low torque setting for tensioning them, 5 - 7.2 ft lb's,
thats below what you can do with a large screwdriver.

We stock the china iridium version(china 4 valve and daytona 4 valve plug are the same i believe) and have only had the prob of them snapping clean in half, im scared whenever tightening them as there a 13mm and once nipped up dont go that bit further, our plugs are also about $30. Being about half the size of c7hsa they are brittle little buggers, but we have never had one play up like you mention nick and i would of thought the NGK would of been better than the china iridium. P.S, once an upload of mine is finished(computer is sloooow) i will be checking ya vids mate.

Yeah i did a bit of research as well when i was trying to track a few down and found out that nearly nothing at all on this planet runs those silly little plugs thanks for the info on suppliers and the torque settings as well ..

At 7.2 ft lb's !! thats barely enough to compress the crush washer on the thing .

I doubt my CHP super coil would be killing them ???

I still have the very first plug somewhere in the garage its brand new and no good ... unless you want your bike to idle like a 13b bridge port and pop , backfire when you twist the throttle.

these are the only other plugs I've found that will work in these motors :

DENSO:

Normal plug Y27FER-C

Iridium plug IY27

NGK:

Iridium plug ER9EHIX

have you checked the gaps on them? they should be preset to .7mm.
make sure you dont regap/adjust the gap on them after using the spark plugs, as the earthing tab/strap that the spark jumps to, becomes tempered after being used
the earth straps, once used, can become brittle, and later snap off, doing all sorts of damage to your piston, bore and valves if the get stuck anywhere.

with the crush washers, and low torque setting, im guessing the crush washers would be aluminium, or steel but a hollow type design.
you would want a decent spark plug socket to remove and refit the plugs.
they need to have a rubber or urethane insert so there is not much chance of putting pressure on the porcelain outer end of the plug when doing them up.
Snap On tools possibly make the correct spark plug socket, otherwise Honda may have a specialised tool designed for the job?
Motion Pro do a special 14mm socket for plugs.

the coil wont kill the plugs, but if running a bad plug, it can damage/slowly kill the coil.
do you have a good quality spark plug cap on the spark plug lead?

i would email or ring the Australian dealer for NGK, and maybe ask to speak to one of their technical staff on the problems you have found with them.
possibly they had a bad batch?

the Denso are another high quality Japanese spark plug,
they are used by Ford in the BA Falcons and onwards, the genuine Ford ones are made by Denso.
a lot of the good dynotune places around, that tune big horsepower turbo Falcon,s wont run any other brand of spark plug in them.

I just measured the gap its pretty spot on ..

There actually a 13mm believe it or not thats how small they actually are .

Ive still got 1 more NGK left to use up and i might switch over to denso and see how they perform , i always ran denso in my F6 Tornado BF ute with no dramas at all purred like a kitten all day every day ..

Thanks for your time and advise mate much appreciated

IY27 is the plug we were using on the China 4 valve

I had the same drama as you did with your second plug about 6 months ago with a NGK plug but mine was a CR7HSA it snapped i only just put the plug socket onto it and was ONLY JUST STARTING to tighten it and it snapped. It left the end of the plug in the head and snapped where the thread meets the hex part of the plug i got the snapped bit out of the head ok. I took this into town to where i got it from earlier in the day and they rang the state distributer here in tassie and they said NGK had a drama with a few plugs of differant models in the resistor range doing the same thing. I got a replacement plug this time a C7HSA and had no dramas.

I sent a good 2ND hand IY27 for you to try in the filter package nick
