had the bike out today for a quiet ride and something went a miss in the gear box.
First off, it was falling out of gear in second and third when backing off the power ( into neutral) And finally lost all gears except 1st.

Any ideas ?

i hate it when $hit like that ends a good riding session

sounds like maybe the bolt that locks the gear drum in place has come loose.
or the screw at the other end of the drum (internal) has come loose and it has dropped all the selector pins.(not all engines have these but you havent stated wat engine you have)

take your magneto cover off and above the front sprocket you will see a rubber bung, use a small screw driver to remove the bung and you will see the bolt im talking about...

the bolt needs to be tight, if its loose the gear drum floats around and doesnt select properly if at all..

for the selector pins, you need to remove the clutch cover and youll see the gear drum at the top left in the engine...above the kick start idler gear...
