Just doing some research on possible bike upgrades and had a few questions. Do Pitster Pro LXR's and X4R's have different frames and therefore ergo's? Or is it just the suspension and minor accessories that differ?

My PitPro just has bad ergo's. Despite pushing my bars as far forward as I can they still slope back too much and make you feel like your hands are too close to your body. It seems like the fork angle is too laid back which is stuffing up the ergo's.

Also looking at the PP's the X4R's seem to look at bit smaller then the LXR's. Is that right? I noticed there is an X4R for sale in the classifieds, but don't want to get a smaller bike that is also overly cramped.

Thanks for your input.

Jono.

The lxr has a longer feel to it than the x4r and in my opinion the ergo's of the lxr style bike is hard to match with any other bike like the x4r or crf70 style bike.

Cool, thanks very much. So if the X4R is a CRF70 styled bike is the LXR a KLX110 styled machine? Or is it a standalone design? I can see design similarities in the LXR, Motovert Pro 160 and even some PSTO's. Is that right?

^^^ LXR uses a fairly standard size midsize frame but uses the TTR110, setup

The LXR, Motovert Pro 160 and PSTO's. are all very similar.
The PSTO foot peg position is further forward than the LXR and some people prefer that as it put's the riding position more over the front wheel.
I really like the feel of the CRF70 style bikes for flat track and trail riding. They have a fatter more stable feel about them.
The LXR has a higher stance and I find them more comfy for jumps and racing.

Thanks Carlts. If these are midsize is there bigger again? Or is midsize as big as it gets for pitbikes? I'm thinking an LXR might be the way to go.. just gotta find the money. Or could I possibly just upgrade my PitPro's frame to another frame that would take the YX160? One with better ergo's? What do you think?

Midsize is as big as a pitty gets. The real thing that determines rider position and comfort is the peg to seat height and also wheelbase length. I currently run a crf70 style mono swinger setup and she is way more comfy than my previous crf50 Pitpro!

here's a break down I made at one stage:

^^^^ Generally the same engine mate, what your looking at is different components, heres a quick rundown:

Engines:

125cc (Lifan, yx, GPX)

Air cooled engine, good reliability, cheap to purchase and offer consistent power though lack the punch of larger engines. The GPX race engine provides more punch however and is oil cooled, other benefits include the easily accessible oil filter, race cam, etc.

140cc (Lifan, yx, zongshen)

Bit punchier then the 125's, have the inclusion of an oil cooler, I have had a good run with the YX's but not so much with the Lifan 140's

15c (Lifan, yx)

Powerful engines but not quite as powerful as the 160's which use a different style of head. The 150's are good but you are more worth getting a 160 as they are very similarly priced. The Daytona is in a league of its own, this is however reflected by its price. Its high power, excellent reliability and quality are second to no Chinese engine listed. All Oil cooled

160cc (yx, GPX)

Offer good power and plenty of HP great for the heavier rider, oil cooled. They are quite reliable and spare parts as with all these engines are easily available.

Bike Sizes:

1. CRF50 style (A-style Swingarm)

Smallest of the pit bikes, good for having a hoot on small BMX sized tracks, skate parks that sort of thing. Not so good for big riders looking at trails and large paddocks/ mx tracks.

2. CRF50 Mono Swingarm

The ergo's are improved for bigger riders due to the swingarm increased length. Still pretty small for riding conditions as posted above. Easily the most common pit bike style, offering cheap part availability. Peg to seat height however can be very uncomfortable especially for bigger riders

3. KLX110 Midsize bike

Larger frame size, fork length, swingarm length provides a larger seating position making it comfier to ride, less twitchy to handle. Great bike for the midsize rider.

5. TTR110 Linkage bike

Most expensive of the pit bike styles, mainly due to the linkage inclusion. Said to handle like a big bike, looking to pay 2k+. Same general specs as klx110 and crf70.

The LXR, Motovert Pro 160 and PSTO's. are all very similar.

Interesting.. I'll just be trail riding and buzzing around on it.. no racing or jumping.. Maybe that X4R in the classifieds might be worth checking out.. Sell off the pitpro to recover some cash. I'm just under 6 foot.. the X4R does look smaller that my PitPro thats all.. but if the ergo's are better than smaller might not be that bad...Hmmm.

Thats for all the info Carlts. Your list puts the X4R into the KLX110 category and DHZ_XR8cing is saying its in the CRF70 category. Which one is it?

I think my PitPro is KLX110 based as it takes KLX plastics. Whatever the X4R is I imagine its ergo's are better that my PitPro yeah? Is it normal to be constantly sitting on the end of the seat crushing the back mudguard and still wanting more room?

The x4r is like the CRf70 style as in it has no linkage suspension and both bikes to me feel very similar to ride.

The ergo's are pretty on the x4r man, specially comparing it to my brothers klx style Pitpro. Mainly die to the quality suspension (plays a huge part) and generally better seat foam.

The klx style is a proven setup and with 14/12 wheel setup its got good ergo's. Much the same as the crf70, my personal preference is this, just to to the slightly longer wheelbase of mine particularly and the plastic styling.

Nice. Thanks man. I think the X4R might be looking good for now. You're right about the seat and suspension too.. its so bad on the pitpro.

I started out buying a cheaper pitbike as it was only going to be used for occasional fun, but I'm quickly becoming addicted to these little machines and looking to upgrade constantly now. lol. I think that's part of the fun tho.

Thanks again for the help mate.

Jono.
