Hi everyone

I went out for a ride today with some mates.
I walked my bike all the way to the track ( 45 min walk ), and when i finally got there my bike wouldnt start.
I went over it but couldnt find nothing wrong. The bike was running perfect the day before.
I think it might be the cdi because i have had some troubles with it before. i know for a fact there is no problems with the engine. I think its just electrical.

What you guys think?

Thanks

its a Atomik link by the way

check spark plug is sparking buy removing it and grounding the chassis of the plug on the head and get someone to kick it.

best way to verify ur cdi is buggered is buy/borrow a working cdi and see if she runs.

ok ill give that a shot.
does is matter when you change your spark plug or should you change it after a serten amount of rides?

i checked the spark today.
it didnt look very strong, was just a small little spark, dont know if the normal or not.
does this mean my spark plug needs replaceing or a new coil or something?

it would be a good idea to try/borrow a cdi and coil to test with.

i borrowed a cdi of my mate yesterday and it was pretty much doing the same thing.
it was either 20 kicks to start the bike or roll start it lol
when the bike is warm is ok, it will take like 2 kicks, but if its cold then your in for it

have you taken the carby off at all? When i did that i stuffed up the gasket and when i put it back togther it was very hard to start, took for ever to kick start it, but it would also die at idle. If you havent taken your carby off at all then i doubt it would be it but if ya have then might be worth a quick look

i took my carby off yesterday and gave it a clean before i went rideing.
when its warm it idels just fine.
its getting it to start is my problem lol
i went over the wiering and everything looks ok.
i bought a new spark plug and its still not working
so pretty much the only way to start the bike is if you roll start it.

when i ride it, it has some back fire. do you think the mixture might be holding it back?

sorry if its a stupid question, i dont know much about bikes lol.. more of a car mechanic

It just clicked!! If you can only roll start it and it starts ok hot then.....

VALVES!!

Inlet valves to be precise. Either the clearances are out or they may have a small burr on them. I put my money that will be the cause. Check you clearances first.

Should be able to search the site and find an article on how to check them. :)

my old 110 did that, the clutch wasn't adjusted properly and it would slip when engaging the kick start gears as you kick it.

i found a thread here on how to adjust your valves.
it looks like its a loooong and hard process.
have you guys done it before and was it hard?

hope u fix your problem
hows the bike btw
and wulda thought u would start it before u go ay haha lol
i did the same thing

im going to try fix the valves either tomorrow after work or saterday.
but i was hopeing to hit a track on saterday with some mates.
so i dont have much time.
i hope when its all finished the bike will run like new again

adjusting your valves is not really hard at all as long as you have some feeler gauges and a couple of spanners is easy. Just follow the tutorial and you'll find it easy

ill try buy some feeler gauges tomorrow.
if i have time tomorrow ill give it a shot... wish me luck.
ill get back to you guys with the results

here is the update guys.
did the valves today ( first and only time im doing them ) and the bike still wont start.
i was standing there kicking it for ages but wouldnt start.
i rolled it down the hill and it started. so i can still only roll start it.
what the hell is going on. this bike is really starting to tick me off.

any more ideas on what it might be? any help will do.
thanks

I see that the thread has died now but i am bringing it back because wouldnt you know it.. the bike still wont start..

I found out the problem was the piston rings..
so i got a new piston, put it in and now the compression as better then ever.

i kicked it and kicked it but wouldnt start...
it sounds like it wants to start but just cant get there.

im guessing that i have adjusted the timing chain wrong.
in order for me to fix that i have to take the engine out of the frame again. ( dont ask )

so im hopeing you guys can help me with some other suggestions on what it might be

hope to hear back from you guys.

thanks

have you put some new fuel in it?it could have gone stale?end up cleaning the carby out?

the fuel is only about 3 weeks old, you think it will need changeing?

i split open the carby today and gave it a clean.. still nothing
